IAEA International Standards

International Standards for Educational Assessment Organisations

After several years of development by its Recognition Committee, IAEA has published The International Standards for Educational Assessment Organisations (‘the Standards’).

The aim of the Standards is to provide a set of benchmarks of good practice for use by member associations. The Standards is also aligned to the IAEA’s vision of contributing towards and facilitating organisations in improving assessments and examination systems.

The Standards is a practical framework focusing holistically on organisations. It is there to help member organisations ensure that they are producing assessments that are as valid, reliable and fair as possible.

IAEA invites its member organisations to conduct a self-evaluation review of their operations and processes using the Standards. Organisations are free to proceed with self-evaluation as they wish. The IAEA Recognition Committee is available to answer questions and provide guidance to members carrying out a self-evaluation exercise against the Standards.  Any questions, comments, or requests for advice should be sent to the Committee using its e-mail address: recognitioncommittee@iaea.info. We look forward to hearing from you.
