The gap between internal and external assessment

The New Zealand Ministry of Education is questioning the credibility of the senior school assessment system after finding that students are two to three times more likely to get “excellence” grades if they are internally assessed – by their own teachers.[read more].
But there is ‘No rush into NCEA changes’ according to Education Minister Chris Hipkins. There is still no agreement on how to change the senior school exam system and it will not change before 2020 “at the earliest”.
