HOST INFORMATION AND CONTACTS

The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) was established by an Act of Parliament Number 15 of 1983, which was repealed and replaced with the ECZ Act Number 3 of 2023 with a mandate to set and conduct examinations and award certificates to successful candidates. ECZ conducts examinations at the end of Primary (Primary School Leaving Examination-PSLE), end of Junior Secondary (Junior Secondary School Leaving Examination-JSSLE), and end of senior secondary (School Certificate Ordinary or ‘O’ Level Examination-SC). Further, the ECZ conducts Junior Secondary External and General Certificate of Education examinations for independent candidates out of school. Additionally, the Council conducts examinations for Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Primary and Secondary Teachers’ Diploma programmes. Over the past ten years, the Council has reformed its practices, fundamentally challenging traditional assessment practices and adopting new approaches arising from research, exposure, new ideas and new thinking. ECZ is a primary member of the International Association for Educational Assessment – IAEA
